Hewlett Packard Enterprise is redefining the concept of IT operations in hybrid environments with the introduction of its new GreenLake Intelligence platform, a comprehensive agent-based artificial intelligence (AI) system designed to simplify the management of complex infrastructure and accelerate the adoption of AI-based solutions.

HPE ‘s new approach is based on AIOps agents that run across all layers of infrastructure – from storage to networks and cloud costs – enabling automated problem detection, analysis and proposed corrective actions in real time. This is not just a technical innovation – it is an attempt to build a unified operating model to meet the growing demands of companies looking to deploy native AI without replacing their entire infrastructure.

“HPE is redefining hybrid IT in its own distinctive way: moving companies from an era of hybrid complexity to an era of cloud operations based on agent-based artificial intelligence,”said Antonio Neri, president and CEO of HPE.“HPE’s new vision for hybrid IT solutions is based on agent-based artificial intelligence at every level of the infrastructure, enabling companies to realise their boldest ambitions and achieve previously impossible levels of IT productivity and operational efficiency.”

It is worth noting that HPE is positioning GreenLake not as a classic cloud, but as the foundation of an intelligent hybrid IT architecture. Along with this approach come new components: the OpsRamp agent-based operational copilot, automated FinOps tools, predictive sustainability analytics, and Alletra X10000 intelligent storage ready for MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers.

Of particular interest is the expansion of HPE Aruba Networking to include a mesh of AI agents running from within the network coplot. This is another step towards a self-optimising infrastructure, where network traffic and security management becomes the job of the automated system rather than the administrator.

In terms of its deployment model, HPE is clearly moving towards a service-based approach. The CloudOps platform, combining OpsRamp, Zerto and Morpheus, is available as both software and a managed service. It is accompanied by flexible financing programmes and new purchasing models (Cloud Commit) to convince companies to move to agent-based cloud without high upfront costs.

While GreenLake Intelligence is still an early-stage initiative – most of the new features will not reach customers until the second half of 2025 – HPE’s direction is clear. The company is building a future where IT operations will not be managed, but orchestrated by intelligent agents, running in the background and reporting only when a human is needed.
