epa07635040 A general view on buildings in the Kazakh capital of Nur-Sultan (formerly known as Astana), Kazakhstan, 08 June 2019. The city, known earlier as Tselinograd, was an agricultural province in the steppe where the former Soviet Union government tried to grow record grain harvests. The former Soviet republic of Kazakhstan chose former Tselinograd as the place for its capital, named it Astana and rebuilt it in an ultra-modern style. In 2019 Astana was renamed in honor of the first President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. EPA/IGOR KOVALENKO
