Iron Mountain has entrusted Marcin Skrzypczak with operational oversight of the key Northern Europe Cluster region. The Pole’s promotion to Head of RM Operations – Senior Director is not only a sign of trust from the head office, but also a confirmation of the growing role of Polish leaders in the global structures of international technology companies.
Skrzypczak, who has been with the company for a decade, will be responsible for operations in ten countries – from Scandinavia to Central Europe – including Germany, the Netherlands and Poland, among others. The region, which is one of the most important in Iron Mountain’s European portfolio, includes around 50 logistics and warehousing centres and a fleet of 180 vehicles.
“It’s very rewarding for me to be part of an organisation that not only focuses on the development of operations-related processes, but also consistently pursues sustainability goals. We currently manage a network of around 50 depots, 25% of which are already powered by renewable energy. Our fleet comprises 180 vehicles, with as many as 100 being electric – and we plan to achieve a 100% zero-emission fleet by 2030. However, the scale of our operations is not just about numbers – it is about the real impact on the environment. Our vehicles cover a total of around 5.5 million kilometres per year. Thanks to the gradual electrification of the fleet, we are able to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 520 tonnes per year. This is a reduction equivalent to planting as many as 80,000 trees, which is comparable to creating a forest of 26 hectares. Ultimately, by 2030, we want to increase this effect to 1,000 tonnes less emissions per year – the equivalent of 150,000 trees and 50 hectares of green space. These are concrete actions that make a difference – both for our customers and for future generations. I am proud that together with our team we can make a real contribution to sustainability through technology and a responsible approach to logistics,” says Marcin Skrzypczak, Head of RM Operations – Senior Director – Northern Europe Cluster at Iron Mountain Polska.
Skrzypczak’s case is also another example of the globalisation of managerial competence – and the growing visibility of Polish leaders within the structures of large corporations. This is already his fifth promotion at Iron Mountain, the second within international structures – and probably not the last.
