Broadcom, following its acquisition of VMware, has consistently pursued a strategy to transform the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) into a native platform for artificial intelligence.

The latest step in this direction is the VMware Tanzu Data Intelligence platform and the new version of Tanzu Platform 10.3, unveiled at the Explore 2025 conference.

This strategic move aims to provide enterprises with integrated tools to build and deploy AI applications within a controlled private cloud environment.

The newly launched Tanzu Data Intelligence platform is a data lakehouse solution to address the problem of distributed and disparate data in corporations. The platform offers unified access to structured and unstructured data with low latency, which is crucial for AI applications and real-time analytics.

Among its key capabilities are built-in vector search functions, essential for applications such as RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), and the provision of full data traceability to help manage and maintain regulatory compliance.

In parallel, Broadcom unveiled the Tanzu Platform update to version 10.3, which focuses on making things easier for development teams and platform engineers. Among other things, Tanzu MarketPlace was introduced, allowing internal applications to be published as services.

AI model management has also been streamlined with detailed service plans and limits, giving greater control over costs and security. Also new are tools for automated upgrade of legacy applications and a new dashboard in Tanzu Hub, which increases transparency into vulnerabilities and security across the technology stack.

The announcements are part of Broadcom’s broader strategy, which positions VCFs as a secure and cost-effective alternative to public clouds in the context of AI deployments.

Instead of building AI competencies from scratch, companies are provided with a ready-made, integrated set of data and application management tools to accelerate the deployment of innovations based on generative AI.
