Dariusz Mazurkiewicz, who is stepping down as CEO of Polski Standard Płatności, is set to join Allegro as Chief Financial Services Officer. He will be responsible for the strategy behind existing and new financial products for buyers and sellers in Poland and the Central and Eastern European region.
This move goes beyond a mere personnel change. In the first quarter of 2026, Allegro Pay financed 16.1 per cent of the value of sales on the platform, whilst the value of loans granted rose by 36.7 per cent year-on-year to PLN 3.9 billion. At the same time, in the second quarter, the GMV of Allegro’s Polish division increased by 12 per cent year-on-year. The figures show that financial services are becoming a key driver of sales growth, rather than merely an add-on to the marketplace.
“The development of financial services is one of our most important strategic priorities. We want to build solutions that will set market standards and respond even better to the needs of millions of customers. That is why I am delighted that a leader who helped shape the success of BLIK – one of the most recognisable financial services in Poland – is joining Allegro. This is another step towards building the capabilities needed to implement our long-term strategy and further develop the entire Allegro ecosystem.” – said Marcin Kuśmierz, CEO of Allegro.
Mazurkiewicz’s experience is particularly significant, as BLIK remains closely linked to online retail. In the first quarter of 2026, the system processed 756 million transactions, of which nearly 380 million were e-commerce transactions. The number of active users stood at 21.1 million.
“Over the past few years, I have had the privilege of helping to shape BLIK’s development and observing how innovative financial services are transforming the everyday experiences of millions of users. I will soon be embarking on a new chapter in my career. Allegro is a company that is successfully moving beyond e-commerce to build a modern ecosystem of digital services. The opportunity to help shape the development of financial products within an organisation of this scale and ambition is an exceptionally exciting challenge for me,” said Dariusz Mazurkiewicz.
For Allegro, this could result in faster development of payment solutions, purchase financing and solutions for sellers, as well as a stronger bond between customers and the platform. However, it will also increase the importance of credit risk management, security and regulatory compliance. The appointment strengthens the group’s capabilities, but its effectiveness will depend on specific products and the ability to collaborate with banks and fintech companies.
