European cloud infrastructure provider OVHcloud has entered into a partnership with Polish telemedicine platform Ask the Doctor. The agreement aims to secure sensitive medical data within the growing digital health market, while guaranteeing the full sovereignty of the infrastructure within Europe.
For the Ask a Doctor platform, which has served more than 30,000 patients to date, the move comes in response to stringent legal requirements for handling special category information. The choice of a local, European cloud provider is a strategic move to ensure regulatory compliance and full control over data. The Polish company’s management points out that storing data in trusted centres is now a prerequisite for safely scaling business in the MedTech sector.
The collaboration between the two entities illustrates well the current challenges of the country’s healthcare system. Faced with long queues to see specialists, medical platforms are looking for technologies to serve patients more efficiently. The research data cited shows that nearly 53 per cent of patients see the potential of innovation to reduce waiting times for appointments. At the same time, however, users are concerned about the loss of direct human contact and the risk of algorithm errors.
For this reason, Ask the Doctor, which offers support for psychiatry, endocrinology and neurology, among others, is positioning its technology as a back office to facilitate access to specialists. The cloud and IT systems are supposed to optimise processes and protect privacy, but key clinical decisions remain solely in the hands of qualified doctors.
From a business and technology point of view, the agreement highlights the growing demand in healthcare for independent and secure server solutions. OVHcloud representatives emphasise that the further expansion of telemedicine companies is dependent on the transparency and stability of IT systems. The implementation of such standards demonstrates that the digitalisation of healthcare services can effectively support a loaded system without compromising on regulatory and patient safety issues.
