Claude Tag from Anthropic is coming to Slack

Artificial intelligence is increasingly moving beyond the role of a digital assistant that answers questions and is beginning to function as a full-fledged participant in teamwork. Anthropic’s latest move shows that the next stage in AI development may involve agents being present directly within corporate communication channels, where they support the completion of daily tasks and the flow of information.

Anthropic is expanding its presence in the corporate market with the launch of a new tool called Claude Tag. The solution has been integrated with Slack and allows users to invite the AI directly into group chats. In practice, users simply need to tag the agent with the command “@Claude” for it to join the discussion, analyse the context and assist with tasks.

The new feature differs from traditional chatbots in that it acts as a shared team member. Claude can track conversations in selected channels, remember relevant information and carry out tasks over time. According to Anthropic, the agent can independently identify important updates and publish them in the appropriate places within the organisation.

Claude Tag is currently available in beta for customers on the Claude Enterprise and Claude Team plans. The company has announced that it will extend this functionality to further communication platforms in the coming weeks.

At the same time, Anthropic emphasises security considerations. Administrators can decide which channels, data and tools the agent will have access to. This is intended to limit the risk of uncontrolled information flow and facilitate the solution’s implementation in corporate environments.

The launch of Claude Tag is part of a wider trend in the development of so-called AI agents – systems capable not only of answering questions, but also of performing tasks independently and collaborating with teams. This market is becoming one of the key areas of competition amongst the largest companies developing artificial intelligence.

For Anthropic, this also marks another step in establishing its position in the business segment. The company is capitalising on the growing interest among businesses in AI tools and has recently filed confidential documents relating to a planned initial public offering. According to available information, its valuation currently stands at $965 billion, placing it among the very top players in the global artificial intelligence market.

The launch of Claude Tag demonstrates that the next stage of AI development may take place not in individual chat windows, but directly within the tools that teams use to carry out their day-to-day work.
