Creotech Instruments, the largest Polish player in the space technology sector, has announced the successful completion of the launch (commissioning) phase of the PIAST-S1 satellite. This event has a much broader context than just the success of a single mission. For investors and business partners, it is first and foremost hard proof of the operational efficiency of the proprietary HyperSat platform on which the company bases its commercialisation strategy on international markets.

The just-completed commissioning phase is a critical moment in the life cycle of any orbital facility. It follows the launch and initial stabilisation (LEOP) phase and represents the final test of the onboard systems under real-world conditions. The company confirmed that all elements of the PIAST-S1 platform behave as simulated and are fully functional. Considering that just a dozen days earlier, on 12 January, Creotech announced a similar success for the PIAST-M satellite, the company now has two fully operational units included in the three-element PIAST (Polish ImAging SaTellites) constellation.

From a business perspective, the success of these tests drastically reduces the technological risk associated with Creotech’s products. In the space industry, the currency with the highest value is the so-called flight heritage – proven flight history. The successful deployment of satellites based on the HyperSat standard signals to the market that Polish technology has moved out of the prototyping phase and is ready for serial production and to serve demanding customers, including the defence sector.

Engineers’ attention is currently focused on the third satellite, PIAST-S2, which is still in the commissioning phase. Its successful deployment will close the process of operationalising the entire constellation, which will strengthen Creotech Instruments’ position as an entity capable of providing comprehensive satellite systems, not just individual components. For the company, which has been listed on the main floor of the Warsaw Stock Exchange since 2022, the success of the PIAST project is a key asset in talks for further contracts, both in the microsatellite segment and in the quantum technologies being developed in parallel.
